Wheel portion of the course is scheduled by appointment, after the student gets Class D Instruction Permit. We do the Permit Test and the student has to go to the DMV with parent to pick up the permit.
Minimum age to get Instruction Permit is 15 1/2 . However, students can be enrolled in Teen Driver Ed and take the Permit Test earlier. (Test results are valid for 1 year.) Classroom part expires after 13 months, and the student has to take a 10-hour Refresher Course if she has not completed yet. Our experience shows that 15 and above is the most efficient age to enroll.
How does the student make up a missed class? In a typical 3 week program, we have 15 lessons. (2 hours each day) The student must attend the same lesson that she missed in the next 3-week session (or the following 3-week session...etc.) If the lesson is missed because of a Federal Holiday, then the group may decide to meet on a weekend or individual students may choose to attend the missed day in the next 3 week session.
